CD Mailer – Great for Software Companies
CD mailers are the envelope/mailer of choice for most businesses of software companies when sending out compact discs. They are lightweight yet very durable, and have just enough room to hold the disc snugly within so it does not slide around and get scratched. The worst thing that could happen to any CD while in transit is that it could get scratched, which can make the disc unreadable in some cases.
While CD mailers are technically a type of envelope, they are also often used to hold discs inside of their cases at some retailers — and some people even choose to use them in their homes.
These mailers are generally made to fit within certain types of cases. For instance, music CDs and some older software and video games are held in jewel cases; there are disc mailers that will fit snugly within jewel cases to keep the contents protected. Similarly, DVD case-sized mailers are becoming increasingly common because they make it easy to keep the disc still inside the DVD case, which is something that a jewel case-sized mailer would not be able to do.
Though CD mailers are often used to just hold compact discs, they are also used to mail them as their name implies. Many companies mail out their software in these types of mailers because they are economical. It is best if those that are mailed are not the type that displays the front of the CD through the front, as that could be a cause for theft while in transit. Many companies ship the box for their software containing the instruction manual and the disc itself inside of a mailer. This gives a great presentation when arriving at the customer’s home, and the disc is kept 100% safe while it is being mailed.
As for personal usage, not many people use these types of mailers for their own personal use. If you wish to do so, it is best to send them in another box along with other items to ensure that they do not get stolen. Whoever is delivering your mail does not know whether it is a CD or DVD or not and they may be in kinds take, which is why it is a good idea not to send these out on their own.
They are great to use to send gifts to other people in disc form. This could include video games, music CDs, or even DVDs that you burned of home movies. Whatever you have to send, they are a viable option if whatever you need to send out is in disc format. CD mailers prevent that misfortune of having sent out something on a CD or DVD and having it arrived scratched up and unusable.
